Tell us about your background. How did you become a photographer?

I first started taking photos at the age of 17. I had a bad knee injury that put me out for my final season of high school football. My mother gifted me the camera for my birthday, with the intention of taking photos of the team that year. That year I took shot every game and it became second nature for me to bring my camera everywhere I went.

Was there an “aha” moment when you realized that photography was something you wanted to pursue?

I realized that photography was something I wanted to pursue about a year after getting my first camera. I was shooting 3-4 times a week and wanted to take my passion to the next level. My friends and family were so supportive of my hobby that I decided to look into a full time post-secondary program. I decided on a school called Prairie-view School of Photography in Winnipeg Mb (my home town). It was a year full of shooting and I loved every moment of it!

What are you doing when you’re not out taking photos?

When I’m not taking photos I’m usually working or hanging out with my friends. I serve at a restaurant in the evenings, and clean windows full time during the day. Im lucky that both my jobs are so flexible with time off. Im always able to get out on the road to explore and take photos.
